3 Simple Steps to Foot Comfort
I ran across a very interesting article today by W. Frank Slade, which specifically talks about how many women with wide feet often mistreat their own feet by wearing the wrong kind of shoes. In fact, the article points out that a whopping 75% of women in the United States suffer from some form of foot pain during their lifetime, and this pain is more often than not brought about by wearing the wrong footwear.
So what exactly should women with wide feet do? What should they stay away from and what should they look for when shopping around for shoes? Three simple steps are highlighted in fact, which I had to share with you all.
First of all, stay away from pointy and narrow toed shoes! Besides being very uncomfortable and painful for women with wide feet to wear, such footwear is often the cause of calluses and bunions. So steer clear of the point ends, and look for wide toed and roomy shoes.
Secondly, try reducing the time your spend wearing high heels. Do not wear high heels when you know you are going to be out and about, walking or standing for a long time. Also, do not wear your high heels everyday. Alternate day by day with some stylish comfort shoes.
Finally, give great thought to the hosiery you choose. This might sound weird to some of you; I myself paused for a second when I reached this part of Slade’s article. But a little further insight and it makes sense. Nylon for instance heats of the body further and this causes excess perspiration, which can lead to fungal infections or athlete’s foot. So choose your hosiery wisely! Do not settle for the cheaper options, your feet deserve better!
Women with wide feet should keep the above points in mind when considering their footwear options. They also have to remember, that just because their feet are wide, the do not have to compromise on the style of the shoes they buy! There are a good number of quality online shoe stores which offer a variety of stylish shoes in wide widths and hard to find sizes. Just browse around our pages here to discover some of the best options available to you.
